Zumba Dance Exercise Class: Mondays and Wednesdays at 9:30 am. Certified Zumba Instructor Coleen Krempel is running weekly classes in this fun exercise program. Known as a Latin Dance Party, Zumba® has become nothing short of a revolution. Six classes now only cost $30, register at the desk.
Men’s Breakfast Club: Tuesday, May 1st, 8:30 am Meeting the first Tuesday of each month, enjoy some hot catered breakfast foods. Rise and shine to attend this month’s guest speaker: Nick from New Fairfield Automotive, so bring your car care questions. Donations are kindly requested to offset the cost of breakfast. Registration is required.
Movers and Shapers Class: Tuesdays or Thursdays 9:30am, Coleen Krempel’s very popular six-week class is a fun way to move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to improve cardiovascular health and increase muscular strength and range of movement. Signup and fee of $20 per 6-week segment is required.
Tai Chi Classes: Tuesdays, at 10:30 am We have openings in our Tai Chi classes led by instructor Dee Calvey. Cost is $30 for six sessions. Improved stress reduction, balance, agility for all is the focus of Tai Chi. The most recommended exercise for fall prevention is Tai Chi because of its balance criteria.
Mah Jongg: Tuesdays, 1-3 pm
Mah Jongg is usually played with tiles, though it can also be played with cards of equivalent design. Beginners as well as experienced players are welcome. If you have a 2011 Mah Jongg Card, please bring it.
Yoga Classes: Tuesdays at 1:00 or Fridays 9 am
Yoga classes weekly led by instructor Karen Gillotti. Cost is $30 for six sessions. The roots of Yoga can be traced back roughly 5,000 years. The benefits extend far beyond any ordinary workout routine and allow a view of one’s life in a more peaceful and proactive state.
Sittercise: Wednesdays at 12:45 pm & Thursdays at 10:30 am
Sittercise is a 45-minute exercise program designed for use with all levels of ability including the physically challenged. Discover which muscle groups can be used while seated, and learn movement techniques that contribute to your increased fitness and health. A one-time fee of $5 and registration is required.
Spanish Classes with Carlos Ramirez: Wednesdays at 3pm, Learn Spanish as well as Spanish culture and heritage with weekly educational classes with Carlos, cost $20 for 6 week sessions.
Better Balance Exercise Class: Wednesday at 3pm Dee Calvey has been trained in the evidence-based Tai Chi program developed by the Oregon Research Institute. This 6 week class is aimed specifically at improving balance with the initial option of chair support and she promises just 2 weeks to better balance and range of motion. COST $ 30 for six weeks
Guitar, Fiddle, or Piano Lessons: Thursdays, 11-4 pm
Gwen Glasser offers half-hour lessons in fiddle, guitar, and piano right here at the SeniorCenter for $15 and she looks forward to passing on the joy of music to you. Contact Gwen for an appointment at (203 )746-5725.
Live Well Workshop: Fridays, thru May25th 9 am
Signup for a FREE 2 ½-hour Live Well Workshop, held each week for six weeks and learn from trained volunteer leaders how to set your own goals and make a step-by-step plan to improve your health—and your life.
This evidence-based program has been proven to have significant outcomes for people with ongoing health conditions. The Live Well Workshop can help you take charge of your life.
Garden Club meeting Friday, May4th 10am
The Garden Club’s mission is to encourage interest in gardening, providing a common sense approach and basic information about gardening. Here experienced gardeners and not so experienced can share their wisdom!

Life after Loss Support Group: Wednesday May2nd and 16th at 10:30am You Are Invited! to join a trained counselor from Healing Hearts and Hospice who will be leading a workshop for those who have lost a spouse. Grief work is hard work. We will provide you with some tools and support to continue to heal after losing your partner.
The DASH Diet: Wednesday, May 2nd at 1:30 pm Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension. Do you have High Blood Pressure? Come and learn about hypertension, it’s methods of treatment and understanding your medications and diet in this 3 part series. Color Me Beautiful: Monday, May14th 1pm In this workshop, participants will be introduced to reinventing yourself with Color Me Beautiful. If you are confused with clothing colors to wear, this introduction program provides you ways to recognize a personalized color identification of your natural coloring. You will learn concepts to give you the right tools to make choices at home and in the store. When you wear your personalized season colors, you will feel full of self-confidence; when you look great, you feel great.

Blood Pressure Screening and “Ask the Nurse”: Wednesday, May16th Masonicare Home Health will be here the 3rd Wednesday of each month starting Blood Pressure Screening at 1pm. This provider welcomes your health questions, too.
The ABC’s of Medicare: Wednesday, May16th 1:30 pm
Presented by Aetna Medicare this talk will include a general overview of Medicare. Most importantly, there will be updates on Health Care Reform and the impact it has on seniors, specifically regarding prescription drugs and the 'donut hole'. The presentation itself will be about 20 minutes with additional time for questions.
Michael Dutton Financial Talk Making Your Money Last a Lifetime: Thursday, May17th 2pm Last session of a four part program to help you make your assets work for you for the rest of your life, simple steps to financial freedom in retirement. We’ll be having our own Kentucky Derby Festival this May with mock Mint Juleps and other special refreshments, horse racing, and singing to the music of Billy Michael. Please, wear your best off-to-the-races fashions (wide rimmed hats, Ladies!) to the event, y’all.

Chef Marianne De Silva’s New Adventures in Cooking: All American Picnic Food- Thursday, May 24th 1:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. Join us for lunch as we host Chef Marianne De Silva’s New Adventures in Cooking “Themed Cooking Class” – “All American Picnic Food” will start out with cool and refreshing “Strawberry Lemonade Punch” to accompany our meal. Then we’ll create our “All American Picnic”. On our picnic let us make some absolutely delicious Honey-Chipolte BBQ Spare Ribs that we’ll pop on the grill and serve with a fresh and luscious Watermelon Salsa. Then onto a Traditional Egg-Potato Salad, you’re just going to love, and along side we’ll make a batch of Bacon and Molasses Beans, fast, easy and Yummo! Massages with Scott: Wednesday, May30th 2pm-3pm
Scott Coldwell of Phoenix Therapeutic Massage & Personal Training is running a once a month personal massage program. Scott is an ACSM Certified Personal Trainer, a Licensed Massage Therapist and a Certified Wellcoach. Sessions are offered at a reduced cost of $7 for a ten minute session.
